About price data

Where prices come from. Current gold prices are provided by Gold API (api.gold-api.com), quoted in US dollars per troy ounce. Historical gold chart data is also obtained from Gold API, through a centrally cached Cloudflare service maintained for this app: that service holds the provider key, fetches the history once for everyone, and serves every chart range from its cache, so the app itself never calls the historical endpoint. Currency conversion is provided by Exchange Rate API (open.er-api.com).

How current the data is. The app requests a current price when you open the Market screen or pull to refresh; it does not stream continuously. Each price carries the market timestamp reported by the provider and a status: Updated when that timestamp is within the last 20 minutes, Delayed when it is older, Saved when the displayed value came from this device's cache, Stale when a cached value is more than 15 minutes old, and Unavailable when nothing usable exists. A saved or stale value is always labelled with its age and is never presented as current. Historical chart data is cached centrally and on this device, so it may be cached or delayed rather than current. Currency rates are cached on this device for one hour, and the provider's open-access service updates them approximately once per day, so converted prices can lag the underlying gold price.

Coverage. Chart ranges are 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. Supported units are gram, kilogram, troy ounce, and tola (11.6638038 g). Supported purities are 24K, 22K, 21K, 18K, 14K, 10K, 9K, and any custom fineness from 1 to 999 per mille. Purity prices are derived arithmetically from the 24K price, not quoted separately by a provider.

Limits. Prices and calculated values are informational and estimated. Dealer buy and sell prices differ, and the figures shown here exclude taxes, spreads, dealer margins, making charges, fees, gemstones, and any local premium. The app does not execute transactions and does not provide investment advice.
